Protect your time

Busy Isn't The Same As Progress

Note 017 of 62 · 185 words · Start With Yourself

Some days disappear without leaving anything behind.

You were busy. Answered messages. Watched a few videos. Scrolled. Did some small tasks. Moved from one thing to the next.

Then it's night and you're asking yourself what you actually did today.

"Teacher, I didn't have time." I've heard that hundreds of times.

So one day I ask a student to walk me through his yesterday. A little social media. A few videos. Some gaming. Messages. More scrolling. A few more videos.

Hours, gone.

He was busy the entire day. Busy with things that mattered to nobody, including him.

I've caught myself doing the same. Days where I'm teaching, writing, learning, answering emails, working on projects, and I'm wrecked by the evening. And I still hadn't touched the thing that mattered most.

Busy and productive aren't the same. We all get twenty-four hours. The difference is what we point them at.

So now I ask myself one question: what's the most important thing I need to do in the next hour?

Not five things. Not ten. One. Start there.

What you spend time on becomes your life.
