For most of your life you're trained to consume. Read the book. Watch the video. Use the app. Buy the thing. Scroll the feed.
Then one day you try making something, and the world looks different.
A book stops being a book. You start thinking about whoever wrote it. The structure. The decisions. The hours underneath it.
A website stops being a website. You wonder how it was built. What it's trying to solve. What could be better.
That's what creating does. It changes what you notice.
The week after I started my first book, I couldn't read other books the same way. I kept seeing the choices. Why this chapter came first. Why that line got cut. All the work I'd never noticed as a reader.
Ideas start turning up in ordinary places. A problem someone keeps complaining about. A tool that could work better. A question that keeps coming back.
Things you'd have walked past start standing out.
Behind every finished thing, someone made decisions. Made mistakes. Tried to solve something.
The world stops looking like a shelf of products and starts looking like a pile of solutions.
Every book exists because somebody decided to write it. Every tool because somebody saw a problem and had a go at it.
Creating something changes how you think. You don't have to become an entrepreneur for that to be true.
Instead of asking what can I get, you start asking what can I contribute.
And that question opens doors you'd never noticed, because people who create value look at the world differently.
They're looking for something to build.
